The linear clock has two rows of LEDs, the top row shows a ruler from 0 to 24h, and the bottom row shows a bar that grows from left to right as the day goes on. Empty at midnight, completely full by the next midnight. Each block represents half an hour, and by default it will gradually light up throughout these 30 minutes. This allows you to read the time to a few minutes accuracy with a single glance.
The clock can be set up in different colors or display modes. Next to that, the display can show visual reminders in the top row, or be used as a countdown timer display.
In the following sections the controls and settings to use the clock will be explained in more detail.
Three buttons control everything, down, mode and up. When you are looking at the front of the clock, the down button is on the left, mode in the middle, and the up button on the right, as shown below. With this orientation it is easiest to use the buttons by feel by reaching to the back of the clock while keeping an eye on the front display.
DOWN MODE UP

The orientation of the buttons
| Button | Short press | Long press |
|---|---|---|
| MODE | Confirm a setting, or, from the normal display, turn the display on or off | Open the setup menu, or skip ahead to the next setup category |
| UP | Increase a value, or, from the normal display, start the Countdown Timer | Keep increasing (hold it down) |
| DOWN | Decrease a value, or, from the normal display, set a Reminder | Keep decreasing (hold it down), or, from the normal display, clear an armed reminder |
When the clock display is showing, a quick tap of MODE turns the display fully off or back on.
To read the time, compare how far the bottom bar has filled in against the marks on the top row. Each block represents half an hour, and by default it will gradually light up throughout these 30 minutes. This allows you to read the time to a few minutes accuracy with a single glance.

Normal display at 14:35
This gradual fill behaviour can be adjusted with setting 2-14 Leading-edge style.
The clock includes a countdown timer display, handy for cooking, workouts, or anything else you want to count down.
The top bar shows which scale you are on: in minute mode the number of minutes is lighted, and in half-hour mode the tick jumps to whole hours, with a second tick next to it when a half hour is included (like 1:30), plus a fixed tick near the right end of the bar.
The visual alarm can be turned off in setting 2-15 Countdown finish animation, but please note that the clock can not make any sounds, so this visual alarm helps grab your attention when a timer is finished.

Setting a 10-minute duration for the countdown timer
Visual reminder allows you to highlight a specific time in red in the top bar, so you can visually see when your next milestone, goal or meeting is taking place, and how much time is left before it.
The visual alarm can be turned off in setting 2-15 Countdown finish animation, in which case the marker simply disappears when it is reached.
Hold MODE for about a second from the normal display to open setup. Every setting lives in one of three categories:
| Category | Number | Contents |
|---|---|---|
| Time | 0 | Clock time, date, location, time zone, daylight saving |
| Display mode | 1 | Which of 6 display modes is active, and that mode’s own colors |
| Settings | 2 | Brightness, active hours, and other display preferences |
Every setting in this guide is labeled by two numbers, e.g. 0-10 is category 0 (Time), item 10. When in the setup menu, these numbers will be shown in red.
UP and DOWN change the value for a particular setting. A short press of MODE confirms whatever you’ve set on the current screen and moves to the next item.
Hold MODE down for about a second at any point in setup and it jumps to the first item of the next category, Time → Display mode → Settings. Keep holding and it keeps jumping until it exits setup back to the normal display instead.

Half hour screen, dialed to 14:30 in the default green

Minute screen set to +7 minutes
Everything in the advanced time settings section is only used by the sunrise/sunset display mode. If you do not use this display mode, there is no need to set any of this up, and you can skip this section.

Month screen, set to 6 (June)
The day of the month is entered as two separate digits, tens first.

Day tens digit screen, set to 1

Day ones digit screen, set to 5 (day 15)

Time zone screen, GMT+2:00
When on, this adds a fixed extra hour on top of your time zone setting (0-17) for the Sunrise/sunset calculation only. You set your standard-time offset once, and just flip this twice a year instead of having to adjust the time zone itself.

Daylight saving screen, enabled
The settings from 1-11 onward depend on the display mode you choose. Each display mode is described in its own section below.
Each mode’s own preview, with default colors:

Default mode: choose a fixed color

Gradient mode: for those of you who like colors

Schedule mode: divide your day in custom colored blocks

Monochrome mode: everything in your favorite color

Calm mode: a more quiet way to see the time

Sunrise/sunset mode: shows daylight and nighttime at your location
The whole bar is a single color you choose.
1-11 - Future method: use the UP and DOWN buttons to choose how the not-yet-reached part of the bar looks:

1-11 Future method, dimmed selected
Short press the MODE button to move to the next setting.
1-12 - Color: use the UP and DOWN buttons to step the hue up/down around the color wheel (holding repeats). The whole bar previews this color live.

1-13 - Future color: only reached if future method (1-11) was set to constant. Use the UP and DOWN buttons to step the hue for the color every future block will show.

1-13 Future color, default red
Short press the MODE button to move to setting 2-10 Brightness. Or keep the MODE button pressed until you exit the setup menu.
The bar sweeps through a range of hues from left to right, starting at a color you pick.

1-13 Spread, a larger negative spread
Short press the MODE button to move to setting 2-10 Brightness. Or keep the MODE button pressed until you exit the setup menu.
Different stretches of the day get their own independent colors, defined section by section rather than as a single formula.
1-11 - Future method: use the UP and DOWN buttons to choose how the not-yet-reached part of the bar looks:
Short press the MODE button to move to the next setting.
1-12 - Section end: use the UP and DOWN buttons to change the extent of the current section.

These two settings repeat, once per section, until the entire day is covered. There is no fixed number of sections, you decide how many by how far you extend or shrink each one. Short press the MODE button to step back to 1-12 Section end for each section in the schedule. Once all 24 hours are accounted for, pressing the MODE button moves to setting 2-10 Brightness. Or keep the MODE button pressed until you exit the setup menu.

Colors the bar based on actual daylight, amber/orange while the sun’s up, blue at night, calculated from the date, location, and time zone you entered. The block where sunrise or sunset actually falls is marked in red, so over the day the bar reads blue, red, amber, red, blue.

Sunrise/sunset mode: shows daylight and nighttime at your location

Brightness screen, a lower step dialed in (default green)
Sets when your active hours start, see setting 2-13 Active window mode for more explanation.

Start time screen, set to 6:00
Sets when your active hours end, see setting 2-13 Active window mode for more explanation.

Active window mode screen, option 3 (both) selected
This setting controls how the clock behaves if the time is not an exact half hour.

Leading-edge style screen, option 0 (gradual) selected
This turns the countdown timer’s visual alarm (see Countdown Timer) on or off, and also the same visual alarm used when a Reminder is reached. When off, both just return silently to the normal display instead.

Countdown finish animation screen, enabled

Factory reset screen, not yet pressed
If only the first block of the bottom row is pulsing red and nothing else is lit, the clock checked its USB-C connection when it powered up and found the wrong kind of power supply. Use a USB-C-to-USB-C cable plugged into a USB-C power supply rated for 3 A or more (15 W or up). A USB-A-to-USB-C cable or a weaker charger will not provide enough power for the clock. Plug the clock into a suitable adapter to resolve this issue.
